FIGURE 29. A FLYING FISH

FLYING FISH

The flying fish illustrated in Figure 29 is made exactly like the Boomabirds. Any of the dimensions listed for Boomabirds will apply with minor alterations. Here we must think in terms of a long slender type of fish—a northern pike or musky will make a better model than a bass or wall-eye. Use your privilege of artistic license and give the fish long sweeping lines.

BOOMAPLANE

Boomerangs and airplanes somehow seem to go together. People interested in boomerangs are often interested in model airplanes, and aviation enthusiasts usually take to the boomerang hobby wholeheartedly once they are exposed to it. Certainly an airplane suggests a most appropriate shape for a boomerang.

Such a boomerang is represented in the outline of the Boomaplane in Figure 30. Numberless variations in shape are possible, following the lines of any type of airplane. The only requirement is that the relative proportions of body and wings be ap-proximately the same as in the case of the Boomabirds, and consequently they should be made in about the same dimensions as specified for Boomabirds on page 53. The dimensions may force us to distort the shape of a selected airplane somewhat, but not so much so that the model will not be recognizable.
